蒂姆（达伦·伯伊德 Darren Boyd 饰）年逾三十，可无论是事业上还是人生中，都只能用“一无所成”来形容，为此，他在他九岁儿子马库斯（裘德·怀特 Jude Wright 饰）眼中的地位可谓是一落千丈。为了重新树立在儿子眼中的高大全形象，蒂姆毅然决然的辞掉了自己那份毫无前途可言的工作，但之后要做些什么，蒂姆心中一片迷惘。
一次偶然中，蒂姆被军情五处招募成为了实习间谍，这一份特殊的职业让蒂姆的人生走入了新的纪元。古灵精怪的顶头上司，紧张刺激的各项任务，在压力与动力的双重刺激下，蒂姆能否找回真正的自我呢？他又能否挽回朱迪斯（多莉·韦尔斯 Dolly Wells 饰）早已经属于他人的芳心呢？
